Are you interested in becoming a CanadaGAP auditor?

May 28, 2010

The CHC will be holding a four-day CanadaGAP Auditor Training session July 26 to 29, 2010 in Ottawa (Canadian Federation of Agriculture office, 21 Florence Street, Ottawa, ON K2P 0W6). A block of reserved rooms will be available at a nearby hotel.

We would like to hear from interested participants ASAP.

Potential CanadaGAP auditors are trained using materials developed by and specific to the CHC On-Farm Food Safety requirements.

The course content includes an intensive review of the OFFS manual requirements, with the incorporation of practical examples specific to commodity or region.

Before signing up for training, participants must first pre-qualify. For a list of pre-requisites, click here.

Trainees who have yet to complete all pre-requisite courses may sign up on the understanding that all pre-requisites must be met before you will be qualified to negotiate a contract with a CanadaGAP-licensed Certification Body. Trainees are advised that completion of the auditor training in no way implies or guarantees employment with a Certification Body as a CanadaGAP auditor.

  • The session will be delivered by our approved CanadaGAP auditor trainer

  • Simultaneous interpretation will be provided throughout the session (French and English-speaking participants are welcome)

  •  A final exam will be written on the morning of July 29 and can be completed in French or English.

  •  There will be a course fee of $600 plus HST per participant.

Train-the-Auditor-Trainer Pilot Session

On July 29 (afternoon) and July 30, also at the CFA office in Ottawa, the CHC will be holding the first Train-the-Auditor-Trainer session, for those who wish to continue on to train other potential CanadaGAP auditors across Canada. Participants must pass the initial auditor training course with a grade of 90% or higher on the exam. Other criteria may also apply; please contact the CHC National Office for further information if you are interested in participating. Qualified auditors who previously scored below 90% on the exam are offered an opportunity to write a second exam to improve their grade.

A nominal registration fee may be charged, depending on demand for this course.
