Version 7.2 of the CanadaGAP Program Management Manual has been released for the 2019 season, effective April 1st. Component 3, which describes in detail how the certification program operates, is now available on the CanadaGAP website on the last tab of the ‘Becoming Certified’ page. Select the last item entitled “Management System Manual”.

Group Certification Changes

CanadaGAP program participants who are enrolled in Group Certification (Option B) should take particular note of changes that are coming into effect on April 1st, 2019.  These changes are required for CanadaGAP to maintain its Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognition for Option B. Of particular interest are the following revised sections of Appendix III.1:

  • Section 2.2.1 (d)
  • Section 2.5 (a)
  • Section 5.2.1 (b)
  • Section 5.2.2.1
  • Section 5.2.3
  • Section 6.1 (c)

A revisions document is available upon request from the CanadaGAP office.

Groups enrolled in either Option B or Option A3 should also note that Section 4.2.1.1 (vii) will become MANDATORY as of April 1st, 2020. Groups should prepare their internal auditors accordingly to complete the required training and testing.

Corrective Actions Report for 2019

Please note that the CanadaGAP Corrective Actions Report has been updated to Version 7.2 for 2019. A copy can be accessed from the ‘Tools’ menu on the CanadaGAP website at www.canadagap.ca.

The associated procedure for follow-up on Corrective Action Requests (CARs) remains unchanged for 2019 and can be downloaded from the ‘Auditors’ page at https://www.canadagap.ca/program/auditors/.
