CanadaGAP has released a new audit checklist for use in auditing multi-site operations enrolled in certification options A1, A2, C and D. The checklist is focused on the required elements of the multi-site operation’s management system.

The determination of whether an operation is a multi-site occurs upon application to the certification body and during scoping of the operation for an audit. The criteria for determining whether an operation is classified as a multi-site is explained in Section 3.3.5.3 of the CanadaGAP Program Management Manual (Version 7.2 2019), available on the CanadaGAP website.

Effective April 1, 2019 all multi-site operations undergoing a CanadaGAP audit must comply 100% with the new management system audit checklist, in addition to each audited site within the multi-site operation passing the regular CanadaGAP audit.

The management system requirements are identified in the new audit checklist and correspond to requirements published by GFSI last year. CanadaGAP is required to comply with all new GFSI requirements in order to maintain international recognition. References to the GFSI requirements can be found in the CanadaGAP Program Management Manual (Version 7.2 2019) in Section 3.3.5.3.

Note that the new audit checklist applies only to multi-site operations enrolled in CanadaGAP certification options A1, A2, C and D. Groups enrolled in CanadaGAP certification options A3 and B will continue to be audited against the GMS audit checklist.

The new checklist for auditing multi-site management systems will be used in audits of multi-site operations starting April 1st, 2019 and can be downloaded from the CanadaGAP website at www.canadagap.ca/audit-checklist/.
