The CanadaGAP requirement is that the ‘water test date’ refers to the date that the water sample was taken, rather than the date the results came back.

However, it is in the operation’s best interest to ensure that the results are received before the ‘before use’ date (the date the water is first being used) because if the results show that the water was not potable the operation would need to conduct a recall. The operation would be taking a risk when deciding to do sampling this way. Ideally, it is best if an operation is able to ensure the results come back before the water is first being used.
